On September 7th, 2019, we hosted the 2nd annual GPL Challenge at Harker Upper School. It included the morning programming competition session for middle/high school girls and the afternoon talk and panel discussion session given by academic and industrial female leaders in STEM area. The competition provided female students with the opportunity to solve algorithmic programming problems in a supportive environment for both beginning and experienced programmers. The keynote speech and panel discussion gave the participants insight into the current state of the STEM field from a female perspective. 135 girls from 39 middle/high schools in the bay area attended the event and 100 of them competed in the contest.
